The Journey Towards An Energy Efficient And Sustainable Industry

It is well known that in the Middle East, especially in the Arabian Gulf region, the summer temperatures can reach as high as 50 degrees Celsius. This is why, HVAC equipment is more of a necessity than a luxury in this region. There are various efforts to incorporate natural cooling methods and elements in buildings and architecture, but the most prevalent cooling method still firmly roots on the HVAC industry.

HVAC systems have changed the way buildings are designed, built and occupied. Through cutting edge research, development and continuous improvement, HVAC systems have become smarter, and more efficient. HVAC systems are now easier to install, maintain and operate.

The growing use of HVAC systems and services is one of the reasons why the Middle East has one of the world’s highest consumption rates of electricity. The Gulf Region is continuing to invest in increasing their grid capacity to meet the rising power demand. Many question how HVAC systems can contribute to sustainability without sacrificing energy efficiency. With this in mind, the region’s government is promoting sustainability through the introduction of new regulations and adoption of codes towards an energy efficient and green industry.

Rubber World Industry LLC (RWI), we are the leading manufacturer of closed-cell Elastomeric Rubber Insulation in the Gulf and the South East Asian region, we are advocates in promoting sustainability and energy efficiency through our HVAC products. It is our mission to combine quality and precision in our products and systems without having to compromise the environment and natural reserves. By integrating net zero energy and high-performance systems in every project.

Net Zero Energy and Space Conditioning

Net zero energy is the balance between the energy that is needed with the energy that is produced from renewable, zero emission sources. By incorporating this balance, there is an improvement in electricity control, reduced consumption, and high quality energy is supplied. Net zero energy can be achieved by minimizing the load of the building envelope which affects space conditioning. Space conditioning systems provide heating, as well as cooling within conditioned spaces in a structure, and also incorporates the use of components such as chillers, compressors, and fluid distribution systems. This system is known to have the largest energy consumption. This system is required because of the heat loss and gain through the building envelope, unwanted infiltration of outside air, as well as the build-up of contaminants in the building.

To be able to minimize energy consumption, evaluation of the insulating capabilities as well as controlled flow of fresh air across the building envelope is necessary. Once the building loads are reduced, the next step towards net zero energy buildings is through using efficient equipment that focuses on space heating and cooling, improving the design and installation of vapour compression heat

pump systems for energy efficient buildings, and evaluating the effectiveness of low global warming alternatives to hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants.
Engineers need to cooperate in the process, as they have a vital role in helping increase the chances of success in the area of sustainability. They have the responsibility of ensuring the effective implementation and control of maintenance activities. They are also responsible for applying preventive maintenance procedures to reduce the chances of premature equipment failures, providing periodic inspection in building systems to avoid energy emergency breakdown, and describing overall responsibility for the operation, maintenance, repair and replacement at the project level.

2021 has been a challenging year for everyone and we have also facing challenges in our earlier projects. Challenges regarding integration were common, with requirements of translation protocols specifications being a requirement.

Overall, fulfilling the demands of a mixed-use facility is definitely a challenge. Especially if you consider the structure’s diverse and complex components. This is why our facilities team engages in the selection process to make sure that we are using the system control.

Through responsible innovation and continuous focus on conserving energy in our processes and functioning of our products, Rubber World Industry LLC (RWI) innovations are satisfying countless customers and a creating world-class products.
